Weigand Fitness Center is a vibrant hub of the campus fitness and recreation, offering a gymnasium with three courts for intramural basketball and other court sports, areas for weight lifting, cardio training, and a multitude of fitness classes and activities. Additionally, it has an indoor, 1/8thmile track and stadium stairs for training. Finally, there are lockers and changing rooms and administrative office spaces. The E.L. Weigand Fitness Center is available to all students, faculty and staff.

Residents wishing to stay at the College Courtyard after their current lease expires must inform Phyllis by February 1, 2024. If notice is not received by February 15th, we will assume that you intend to vacate your apartment when your lease expires and we will begin the process of leasing it to new students. Thank you for choosing us as your home.
Your Free Parking Is a $540+ Value
Parking at the University of Nevada is expensive. Silver permit parking is really expensive. The annual fee to park in a silver reserved permit lot is $740. The parking lot at the southwest corner of Sierra and 11th is silver permit parking. Right across the street is the College Courtyard Apartments. Our residents enjoy the value of silver permit parking for free. Go to unr.edu and find the parking permit and fee map to compare. Parking at other student apartments can be from $540 to $1,300 a year and that’s if any parking is available.
Watch Your Step
During the winter months we make every effort to keep the sidewalks and stairs free of snow and ice. Never the less, please use caution after a storm. Use the handrails on the stairs and step carefully when on the sidewalk to the north of the building as it is steep and gets little sun.
Interesting Fact: It takes a drop of water 90 days to travel the entire Mississippi River.
No Hover Boards
Until a safe hover board is manufactured, they are banned from the College Courtyard Apartments. These devices have proved to be dangerous——especially when being charged.

Laundry Rooms Don’t Like Cold Weather
During the cold winter months, it is important that the windows in the laundry rooms remain closed. Open windows may cause the pipes to freeze and cause considerable damage. This will force us to close the laundry rooms until they are repaired. None of us want that to happen so please be careful.
Interesting Fact: Japan has one vending machine for every 40 people.
Free Wi-Fi is a $540+ Value

No Parking
The area in front of the dumpster is a no parking zone. Cars parked in the area in front of the dumpster are subject to towing. In addition, Waste Management writes down the license plate number of cars that block the dumpster and violators may have to pay for additional garbage pickups.
Minimum Temp
Per your lease, the minimum temperature in your apartment is 60 degrees. This ensures that the pipes do not freeze in extreme cold weather. You will be liable for damage if this temperature minimum is not maintained.

Sleep In, We’re a 5 Minute Walk to Class
The location of the College Courtyard Apartments is the best for students. We are on a quiet side street, just one block west of the University of Nevada campus.

Your safety is important to us. Please don’t drink and drive. If you drink alcohol (please be 21 years of age and older) get a designated driver or walk home. Don’t ruin your life with a DUI or worse, death of yourself or others. It’s not worth it.
Need More Storage Space?
The College Courtyard has storage lockers available for rent for only $30 per month. The 4’ by 5’ lockers are located on the second and third floors. These storage lockers are a great place to store skis, bicycles, or camping equipment. See Phyllis for more information.
2024/2025 School Year

Message from Phyllis
As the semester winds down, all of the students in the College Courtyard Apartments will be focusing on final exams and papers. Please be considerate of your fellow residents who are “burning the midnight oil” and limit excess noise, loud music/TV and there are to be no parties. I especially want to thank each of you for your cooperation and special effort in helping to keep the complex clean. We continually strive to keep the complex clean, quiet and safe for all of our residents. Happy holidays to each of you and may all of you get A+ on your final exams.
Watch Your Step
As winter arrives, we must be ready for inclement weather and especially snowstorms. Please be careful and watch your step if a snowstorm should occur. We shovel snow and sand the sidewalks and steps after every storm, but you should be cautious, nevertheless. The sidewalk on the north side of the building gets little sun in the winter and the steep hill can be treacherous. Please be careful.

No Beer Kegs
Beer kegs are strictly forbidden at the College Courtyard Apartments. Kegs are not allowed on the courtyard or in individual apartments. All of your leases clearly state that large gatherings are prohibited. Kegs are only for large gatherings. Please be aware that if you bring a keg onto the property, we will begin eviction proceedings immediately.

Garbage Tossing Is Not Sport
Please be considerate and do not throw your garbage from the stairwell landing towards the dumpster. Many times, your aim is not on target and a mess is created. This is both unsightly and unsanitary. We would appreciate your cooperation.

You can do your part to make sure the College Courtyard Apartments are a secure and safe place to live. Never give your key or garage transmitter to others. Please report any damage or repairs that may be necessary to maintain safe conditions. That would include lights out in the common areas, parking garage, stairwells, front entrance and laundry rooms. Minimum Temp
Per your lease, the minimum temperature in your apartment is 60 degrees. This ensures that the pipes do not freeze in extreme cold weather. You will be liable for damage if this temperature minimum is not maintained.

Recently we installed additional gates and barriers to make the complex even more secure. At night the College Courtyard Apartments are very well lit and there are no dark corners. We encourage our residents to monitor carefully who is buzzed into the courtyard.
Need More Storage Space?
The College Courtyard has storage lockers available for rent for only $30 per month. The 4’ by 5’ lockers are located on the second and third floors. These storage lockers are a great place to store skis, bicycles, or camping equipment. See Phyllis for more information.

No Hover Boards
Until a safe hover board is manufactured, they are banned from the College Courtyard Apartments. These devices have proved to be dangerous——especially when being charged.
Interesting Fact: Drivers of expensive cars are less likely to slow down for pedestrians. They are also more likely to feel a sense of superiority over fellow drivers and to break traffic regulations.
Vacuum
A vacuum is available for your use. If you wish to borrow our vacuum it can be checked out at the office. Please return the vacuum immediately after use, as other students may need to use it.

Report any damage or repairs that may be necessary to maintain safe conditions. That would include lights out in the common areas, parking garage, stairwells, front entrance and laundry rooms.

For your safety and the safety of others, please don’t drink and drive. Your futures are too bright to be wasted by a DUI or worse. Get a designated driver, walk or call a taxi but please do not get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence.

Loading Zone
Please be aware that the parking enforcement officers for the City of Reno will ticket cars that are parked in our loading zone for long periods of time. This ticketing will be done regardless of whether or not the car has a Seminary Avenue parking permit. This strict parking enforcement is being done at the request of the Postal Carriers, as they do not like restricted access to the building. All residents of the College Courtyard Apartments should appreciate this enforcement as it allows a convenient loading and unloading area for you, family and friends.

Weigand Fitness Center is a vibrant hub of the campus fitness and recreation, offering a gymnasium with three courts for intramural basketball and other court sports, areas for weight lifting, cardio training, and a multitude of fitness classes and activities. Additionally, it has an indoor, 1/8thmile track and stadium stairs for training. Finally, there are lockers and changing rooms and administrative office spaces. The E.L. Weigand Fitness Center is available to all students, faculty and staff.

Garbage Tossing Is Not Sport
Please be considerate and do not throw your garbage from the stairwell landing towards the dumpster. Many times your aim is not on target and a mess is created. This is both unsightly and unsanitary. We would appreciate your cooperation.

No Smoking
The College Courtyard Apartments are non-smoking student residences. Smoking is prohibited in the apartments, on the walkways, balconies and the courtyard. Guests entering the apartments with a cigarette may extinguish them in the urns by the front gate. This includes marijuana! Legal or not, no smoking means no smoking.

Watch Your Step
As the seasons begin to change a sudden winter storm is always a possibility. Please be careful and watch your step if a snowstorm should occur. We shovel snow and sand the sidewalks and steps after every storm but you should be cautious never the less. Be a Good Neighbor
The goal of all of the residents of the College Courtyard Apartments is to achieve a quality education at the University of Nevada. An atmosphere that is conducive for studying is imperative. Please be considerate of your roommates and neighbors and keep noise to a minimum. We will not tolerate loud parties on the Courtyard or in the apartments and will take appropriate action against those residents who violate the noise rules.
Reserved Parking
Only residents may park in the garage and only in their assigned spaces. Cars that are parked in spaces not assigned to them will be booted and there is an $80 fee to remove the boot. If someone is in your assigned parking space call 691-8290 and a boot will be placed on the car.
Look Both Ways
It is very important that all of you be careful when crossing Sierra Street. Even though the crosswalk is well marked many drivers are speeding or not paying attention to pedestrians. We are pleased the City has added flashing lights to the crosswalk.

We want to remind all of our students not to drink and drive. Don’t ruin your life with a DUI or worse a fatal car accident by drinking and driving. Call a cab, get a designated driver who will not drink or walk home. The life you may be saving could be your own.
City of Reno Party Ordinance
The Reno City Council approved the Social Host ordinance to provide criminal and administrative penalties for disruptive parties, and to help reduce underage drinking and related issues. The City will issue the property owner a citation and fine if a party is conducted that requires the Reno police to make a visit. As your leases clearly do not allow disruptive parties at the College Courtyard we should not have a problem. Please keep in mind, however, that your leases clearly state that if we are fined by the City of Reno for a disruptive party, we will pass the fine and an administrative penalty on the offending residents.
Gate/Intercom System
Our Verkada gate/intercom system is a great way to monitor who is coming at going at the College Courtyard. Every student has an app that allows them to open the gate with their smart phone. Delivery companies such as Prime, UPS and FedEx have delivery codes so they can open the gate. A camera monitors every person who comes through the gate and saves it to the cloud.

Flip Week Is Coming
Our annual “Flip Week” will begin August 15th and runs for five days. During this period, we work hard to get the entire property in the best condition possible. You will see carpet and linoleum installers, professional cleaners, a carpet cleaning company, and maintenance workers throughout the building. The final task will be a pressure wash of the exterior walkways, stairs, and the courtyard. We will do our best to minimize the disruption. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

I hope that all of you have had a wonderful summer. As the new school year is just weeks away, we are preparing for our annual influx of new students. For those of you who will be leaving us, please break down any boxes you put into the dumpster. We have arranged for daily pickup during the move-out and move-in period but the dumpster still fills up fast if boxes are not broken down. As always, it gets hectic around here during flip-week but our goal is to get the entire complex up to perfect so that the new students have a great new home.

Please be very careful when driving through the garage gate. If the gate is going down, DO NOT try to slip under the gate. Once the gate begins to go down it will not stop if you press the button on the garage gate opener. It will only stop when it hits something, and it could do considerable damage to both your car and the gate if this occurs. The gate is set to stay up an adequate amount of time for one car. You will be held responsible for any damage if the camera shows that you tried to slip through the gate inappropriately.
