Message from Rebecca
As the semester winds down, all of the students in the College Courtyard Apartments will be focusing on final exams and papers. Please be considerate of your fellow residents who are “burning the midnight oil” and limit excess noise, loud music/TV and parties. I especially want to thank each of you for your cooperation and special effort in helping to keep the complex clean. We continually strive to keep the complex clean, quiet and safe for all of our residents. Happy holidays to each of you and may all of you get A+ on your final exams.
Snacks Available
As you study for your exams does the grumble of your stomach keep you from concentrating? A quick snack can help you quell those hunger pangs. New snack and drink machines are available in the first floor laundry room. It’s quick, easy and convenient.
Watch Your Step
As winter arrives, we must be ready for inclement weather and especially snowstorms. Please be careful and watch your step if a snowstorm should occur. We shovel snow and sand the sidewalks and steps after every storm but you should be cautious never the less. The sidewalk on the north side of the building gets little sun in the winter and the steep hill can be treacherous. Please be careful.
Useless Fact: A blink lasts approximately 0.3 seconds.
Vacuum
A vacuum is available for your use. If you wish to borrow our vacuum it can be checked out at the office. Please return the vacuum immediately after use, as other students may need to use it.
Laundry Rooms Don’t Like Cold Weather
During the cold winter months it is important that the windows in the laundry rooms remain closed. Open windows may cause the pipes to freeze and cause considerable damage. This will force us to close the laundry rooms until they are repaired. None of us want that to happen so please be careful.
Useless Fact: In the Victoria era, red tulips were a declaration of love.
Useless Fact: When Saigon fell, the signal for all Americans to evacuate was Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" being played on the radio.
Please Don’t Drink and Drive
Your safety is important to us. Please don’t drink and drive. If you drink alcohol (please be 21 years of age and older) get a designated driver or walk home. Don’t ruin your life with a DUI or worse, death of yourself or others. It’s not worth it.
Need More Storage Space?
The College Courtyard has storage lockers available for rent for only $25 per month. The 4’ by 5’ lockers are located on the second and third floors. These storage lockers are a great place to store skis, bicycles, or camping equipment. See Rebecca for more information.
Reserved Parking
Only residents may park in the garage and only in their assigned spaces. Cars that are parked in spaces not assigned to them will be booted and there is an $80 fee to remove the boot. If someone is in your assigned parking space call 691-8290 and a boot will be placed on the car. It is your responsibility if you change cars or have a different license plate number to inform Rebecca. If your license number is not on file in the office your car may be booted.
Another Useless Fact: Leonardo Da Vinci never signed or dated his most famous painting, the Mona Lisa.
Laundry
Please be considerate of your neighbors and do not leave your clothes in the washers or dryers unattended after the washing and drying cycle.
For Your Safety
The safety of our residents is of the highest priority. The College Courtyard Apartments are under 24-hour video surveillance and all entrances are gated. You can do your part to make sure the College Courtyard Apartments are a secure and safe place to live. Never give your key or garage transmitter to others. Report any damage or repairs that may be necessary to maintain safe conditions. That would include lights out in the common areas, parking garage, stairwells, front entrance and laundry rooms.
No Beer Kegs
Beer kegs are strictly forbidden at the College Courtyard Apartments. Kegs are not allowed on the courtyard or in individual apartments. All of your leases clearly state that large gatherings are prohibited. Kegs are only for large gatherings. Please be aware that if you bring a keg onto the property we will begin eviction proceedings immediately.
Your Free Parking Is a $380 Value
Parking at the University of Nevada is expensive. Silver permit parking is real expensive. The annual fee to park in a silver permit lot is $380. The parking lot at the southwest corner of Sierra and 11th is silver permit parking. Right across the street is the College Courtyard Apartments. Our residents enjoy the value of silver permit parking for free. Go to unr.edu and find the parking permit and fee map to compare.

Message from Rebecca
The College Courtyard Apartments are gated for your protection. Some of you appear to be our “gatekeeper” as you continually open the gate for anyone and everyone. This is dangerous and a violation of your lease. By opening the gate to strangers you are accepting liability for any damage or injury that occurs on the property or to our residents. Guests can “buzz” for entrance and only the resident should make the decision as to whether they want that person to enter the complex. There is always the chance that the resident is not home and then we have strangers roaming about the building. Please do not open the gate for strangers and do not let strangers enter through the gate as you enter or exit the building.
Watch Your Step
As winter arrives we must be ready for inclement weather and especially snowstorms. Please be careful and watch your step if a snowstorm should occur. We shovel snow and sand the sidewalks and steps after every storm but you should be cautious never the less. The sidewalk on the north side of the building gets little sun in the winter and the steep hill can be treacherous. Please be careful.

Look Both Ways
It is very important that all of you be careful when crossing Sierra Street. Even though the crosswalk is well marked many drivers are speeding or not paying attention to pedestrians. We are working with the City of Reno and we hope that a traffic light can be installed in the near future.

As your leases clearly do not allow disruptive parties at the College Courtyard we should not have a problem. I hope that all of you have had a wonderful summer. As the new school year is just weeks away, we are preparing for our annual influx of new students. For those of you who will be leaving us, please break down any boxes you put into the dumpster. We have arranged for daily pickup during the move-out and move-in period but the dumpster still fills up fast if boxes are not broken down. As always, it gets hectic around here during flip-week but our goal is to get the entire complex up to perfect so that the new students have a great new home.

Additional fencing will be installed this summer. Please do not let non-residents into the complex when you enter or exit the building. Please ask them to use the intercom system so we know people in the building have permission from a resident. At times like this, we must be more diligent about our safety. On a different topic, even though it is summer, many of our residents are taking summer school. Please be mindful that they are studying and need quiet.
