Location, location, location. There is nothing like the location of the College Courtyard Apartments. We are a half block from the campus and yet we are on a quiet side street. While living at the College Courtyard you can actually get up five minutes before class and still make it on time. As the final days of the spring semester wind down I want to wish all of you the best of luck on your final exams and papers. I know that most of you have worked very hard this semester and you should be proud of your accomplishments. As we head into the summer, please remember that many students are taking classes and that we need to ensure that we have a good study atmosphere. Keep noise to a minimum and be mindful of you neighbors. Many of our students work during the summer as well and need to get a good night of sleep. Your cooperation will be appreciated by all. Have a great summer.

Parking Is Free And Easy

As many of you know, the University of Nevada continues to increase the parking fees on campus. The University has parking fee increases scheduled every year for the next five years. Fortunately, the residents of the College Courtyard Apartments don’t have to worry about these increases. Our residents enjoy free parking that is close to the campus. With our students, instead of driving round and round looking for a parking space or waiting for a shuttle bus you can have another 20 minutes of precious sleep. That’s a real bonus and another benefit of living at the College Courtyard.

 Laundry Rooms

Please be considerate of your neighbors and do not leave your clothes in the washers or dryers unattended after the washing and drying cycle.

Watch the Gate

Please be very careful when driving through the garage gate. If the gate is going down, DO NOT try to slip under the gate. Once the gate begins to go down it will not stop if you press the button on the garage gate opener. It will only stop when it hits something and it could do considerable damage to both your car and the gate if this occurs. The gate is set to stay up an adequate amount of time for one car. You will be held responsible for any damage if the camera shows that you tried to slip through the gate inappropriately.

Need Storage For The Summer?

The College Courtyard has storage lockers available for rent for only $25 per month. The 4’ by 5’ lockers are located on the second and third floors. These storage lockers are a great place to store skis, bicycles, or camping equipment. Michelle for more information.

No Smoking

The College Courtyard Apartments are non-smoking student residences. Smoking is prohibited in the apartments, on the walkways, balconies and the courtyard. Guests entering the apartments with a cigarette may extinguish them in the urns by the front gate.

A vacuum is available for your use. If you wish to borrow our vacuum it can be checked out at the office. Please return the vacuum immediately after use, as other students may need to use it.

For your safety and the safety of others, please don’t drink and drive. Your futures are too bright to be wasted by a DUI or worse. Get a designated driver, walk or call a taxi but please do not get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence.

Computer Lab

Residents using the computer lab during evenings or weekends need to sign-in before using the computers. These computers are for our residents only and we want to ensure that our residents have access to the computers when desired.

Summer Residents

Please be advised that if you desire to sublet your apartment during the summer you must run this transaction through the office.  Replacement residents must pay the first month’s rent, last month’s rent and deposits. We will not transfer deposits or last month’s rent.

Recently we installed additional gates and barriers to make the complex even more secure. At night the College Courtyard Apartments are very well lit and there are no dark corners. Unlike the 700 student party complexes on the far east side of the University, we offer a great environment for the serious student seeking a safe and secure place to live. Google some of the party apartment complexes in the area and see the police calls. Would you want your son or daughter living in that environment (at night?)? We don't think so.

As the Spring Semester comes to an end, it is time to start focusing on final exams and papers. It is imperative that all of you do well on these undertakings. Residents wishing to stay at the College Courtyard Apartments after their current lease expires must inform Michelle by March 1, 2014.  If notice is not received by March 6^st we will assume that you intend to vacate your apartment when your lease expires and we will begin the process of leasing it to new students.

You can do your part to make sure the College Courtyard Apartments are a secure and safe place to live. Never give your key or garage transmitter to others. Please report any damage or repairs that may be necessary to maintain safe conditions. That would include lights out in the common areas, parking garage, stairwells, front entrance and laundry rooms. We also ask that when ever possible you walk in groups and never alone at night. The escort service number is 784-6808.

During the winter months we make every effort to keep the sidewalks and stairs free of snow and ice. Never the less, please use caution after a storm. Use the handrails on the stairs and step carefully when on the sidewalk to the north of the building as it is steep and gets little sun. Hopefully spring is on its way!

Our living rooms include a futon, end tables, coffee table, lamp and TV stand.

Our kitchens include range and oven, microwave, dishwasher, pantry and refrigerator. Our kitchens also have a table and four chairs.

Each bedroom is furnished with a bed, dresser, desk and chair. Each bedroom has a full closet. Each bedroom is wired for cable and telephone.

There is a Sink and Vanity in Each Bedroom - This is a great amenity. Take your time getting ready with no roommate pounding on the door.

We have both garage and street level parking available (Your Choice). The garage is gated. No stacked/tandem parking!!!

The College Courtyard Apartments are one short block from the center of campus. No waiting for a shuttle (that never comes when you need it) or paying for expensive parking permits that are still miles from your class.

No Stacked/Tandem Parking at the College Courtyard

Some of our neighboring apartment complexes (to the east and north - OK, College Terrace) have stacked/tandem parking. One car is parked in front of the other. Can you imagine needing to go somewhere and the owner of the car behind you is nowhere to be found? That won't happen at the College Courtyard. All of our residents have single garage or permit street parking. In the garage or on the street...it's the student's choice.

Security Is Important At The College Courtyard Apartments

Security at the College Courtyard Apartments is a priority. All of our entrances are under 24 hour video surveillance. Recently we installed additional gates and barriers to make the complex even more secure. At night the College Courtyard Apartments are very well lit and there are no dark corners. We encourage our residents to monitor carefully who is buzzed into the courtyard. We are a friendly place to live with just 60 students. Unlike the 700 student party complexes on the far east side of the University, we offer a great environment for the serious student seeking a safe and secure place to live. Google some of the party apartment complexes in the area and see the police calls. Would you want your son or daughter living in that environment (at night?)? We don't think so.

Why The College Courtyard Apartments Are A Better Choice

The College Courtyard Apartments are the best for University of Nevada student living. Here's a few reasons why:

•We are on a quiet side street on the West side (the best side) of the University of Nevada. Seminary Avenue is quiet with little traffic (unlike very busy and noisy Sierra Street).

•You don't need to worry or pay for shuttle service. The shuttles to some apartment complexes are expensive and only come infrequently.

•No stacked/tandem parking. Each resident of the College Courtyard has an assigned parking space or open streetside parking (Your choice). Our neighboring apartment complex (College Terrace) has stacked parking - one car behind the other. Very inconvenient.

•We have very well insulated apartments with double pane windows. This keeps the power bill low both in the summer and the winter.

•We pride ourselves in keeping the building in great condition.

There's a reason the College Courtyard Apartments are always full. We have great students as residents. Google our competitors. One was ordered by the City of Reno to hire security guards as there were so many unruly parties. No wonder they slashed their prices. Ask to walk around the complex of our neighbors without being escorted. Sure the model rooms look good.....check out where you really will live. Message from Michelle

It is really nice to have you return “home” from the holidays and I hope that each of you had a great time with your families and friends. To repeat our wish for the New Year, I hope that all of you will help to keep the complex clean, quiet and safe. It is our wish that everyone work together to make this a great place to live. It takes all of us to accomplish this task. Welcome home!

For Your Safety

The safety of our residents is of the highest priority. The College Courtyard Apartments are under 24-hour video surveillance and all entrances are gated. You can do your part to make sure the College Courtyard Apartments are a secure and safe place to live. Never give your key or garage transmitter to others. Please report any damage or repairs that may be necessary to maintain safe conditions. That would include lights out in the common areas, parking garage, stairwells, front entrance and laundry rooms.

Watch Your Step

During the winter months we make every effort to keep the sidewalks and stairs free of snow and ice. Never the less, please use caution after a storm. Use the handrails on the stairs and step carefully when on the sidewalk to the north of the building as it is steep and gets little sun.

Laundry Rooms Don’t Like Cold Weather

During the cold winter months it is important that the windows in the laundry rooms remain closed. Open windows may cause the pipes to freeze and cause considerable damage. This will force us to close the laundry rooms until they are repaired. None of us want that to happen so please be careful.

Need More Storage Space?

The College Courtyard has storage lockers available for rent for only $25 per month. The 4’ by 5’ lockers are located on the second and third floors. These storage lockers are a great place to store skis, bicycles, or camping equipment. See Michelle for more information.

Snacks Available

As you study for your exams does the grumble of your stomach keep you from concentrating? A quick snack can help you quell those hunger pangs. Snack and drink machines are available in the first floor laundry room. It’s quick, easy and convenient.

Sleep In, We’re a 5 Minute Walk to Class

The location of the College Courtyard Apartments is the best for students. We are on a quiet side street, just one block west of the University of Nevada campus.

2014/2015 School Year

Residents wishing to stay at the College Courtyard after their current lease expires must inform Michelle by March 1, 2014.  If notice is not received by March 5th we will assume that you intend to vacate your apartment when your lease expires and we will begin the process of leasing it to new students. We thank you for choosing us as your home away from home.

Your Free Parking Is a $400 Value

Parking at the University of Nevada is expensive. Silver permit parking is real expensive. The annual fee to park in a silver permit lot is $400. The parking lot at the southwest corner of Sierra and 11^th is silver permit parking. Right across the street is the College Courtyard Apartments. Our residents enjoy the value of silver permit parking for free. Go to unr.edu and find the parking permit and fee map to compare.

Your safety is important to us. Please don’t drink and drive. If you drink alcohol (please be 21 years of age and older) get a designated driver or walk home. Don’t ruin your life with a DUI or worse, death of yourself or others. It’s not worth it.
