Time flies when you are having fun. We hope you are enjoying your summer. Take pleasure in it fast as there are only six weeks until the beginning of the fall semester.

Street Parking

If you park on Seminary Street, remember to pick up your new street parking permit from the office. . The permits issued at the beginning of the spring semester expired on June 30, 2014.Permits will only be given to students who have signed a new lease. Students who park on the street and will be leaving in August will be given a spot in the garage. We don’t want to you get a ticket so please stop by the office and get your new permit.

Message from Michelle

July rent is now due. If you are leaving us in August, pay only half of the July rent as we will apply your last month’s rent to the rest of the July and the first half of August. If you are staying with us, thank you, and pay the full amount as normal.

As many of you have heard, the University of Nevada continues to increase the parking fees on campus. The University has parking fee increases scheduled every year for the next five years. Fortunately, the residents of the College Courtyard Apartments don’t have to worry about these increases. Our residents enjoy free parking that is close to the campus. With our students, instead of driving round and round looking for a parking space you can have another 20 minutes of precious sleep. That’s a real bonus and another benefit of living at the College Courtyard.

Snacks Available

As you study for your exams does the grumble of your stomach keep you from concentrating? A quick snack can help you quell those hunger pangs. New snack and drink machines are available in the first floor laundry room. It’s quick, easy and convenient.

Vacuum

A vacuum is available for your use. If you wish to borrow our vacuum it can be checked out at the office. Please return the vacuum immediately after use, as other students may need to use it.

More Interesting Facts: Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park, felt his literature professor at Harvard was giving him unfair grades. To prove it, he turned in a paper by George Orwell and received a B-.

Need Storage For The Summer?

The College Courtyard has storage lockers available for rent for only $25 per month. The 4’ by 5’ lockers are located on the second and third floors. These storage lockers are a great place to store skis, bicycles, or camping equipment. See Michelle for more information.

Please Don’t Drink and Drive

For your safety and the safety of others, please don’t drink and drive. Your futures are too bright to be wasted by a DUI or worse. Get a designated driver, walk or call a taxi but please do not get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence.

Please be very careful when driving through the garage gate. If the gate is going down, DO NOT try to slip under the gate. Once the gate begins to go down it will not stop if you press the button on the garage gate opener. It will only stop when it hits something and it could do considerable damage to both your car and the gate if this occurs. The gate is set to stay up an adequate amount of time for one car. You will be held responsible for any damage if the camera shows that you tried to slip through the gate inappropriately.

Laundry Rooms

Please be considerate of your neighbors and do not leave your clothes in the washers or dryers unattended after the washing and drying cycle

Some of our neighboring apartment complexes (to the west and north) have stacked/tandem parking. One car is parked in front of the other. Can you imagine needing to go somewhere and the owner of the car behind you is nowhere to be found? That won't happen at the College Courtyard. All of our residents have single garage or permit street parking.

Security is Important

Security at the College Courtyard Apartments is a priority. All of our entrances are under 24 hour video surveillance. Recently we installed additional gates and barriers to make the complex even more secure. At night the College Courtyard Apartments are very well lit and there are no dark corners. We encourage our residents to monitor carefully who is buzzed into the courtyard.

Look Both Ways

It is very important that all of you be careful when crossing Sierra Street. Even though the crosswalk is well marked many drivers are speeding or not paying attention to pedestrians.

Enjoy the Courtyard

The courtyard is a great place to catch some rays of sun or just relax. There are tables with umbrellas available for your enjoyment. Please remember to lower the umbrellas after use (especially on windy days). The bar-b-que is available for grilling but please keep the area clean and pick up after all courtyard meals.

Interesting Fact: If an orangutan belches at you, watch out. He's warning you to stay out of

his territory.

More Interesting Facts:  You're more likely to get stung by a bee on a windy day that in any other weather.

No Beer Kegs

Beer kegs are strictly forbidden at the College Courtyard Apartments.  Kegs are not allowed on the courtyard or in individual apartments. All of your leases clearly state that large gatherings are prohibited. Kegs are only for large gatherings. Please be aware that if you bring a keg onto the property we will begin eviction proceedings immediately

Message from Michelle

Please keep in mind that many of the residents of the College Courtyard Apartments are taking summer classes. These classes are very intense and the need for a quiet study environment is important. Please be considerate of your fellow residents who are “burning the midnight oil” and limit excess noise, loud music/TV and parties. I would also like to thank each of you for your cooperation and special effort in helping to keep the complex clean. We continually strive to keep the complex clean, quiet and safe for all of our residents. Have a great summer!!

Garbage Tossing Is Not Sport

Please be considerate and do not throw your garbage from the stairwell landing towards the dumpster. Many times your aim is not on target and a mess is created.  This is both unsightly and unsanitary. We would appreciate your cooperation

The College Courtyard Is Nevada’s Best Off Campus Location

Location, location, location. There is nothing like the location of the College Courtyard Apartments. We are a half block from the campus and yet we are on a quiet side street. While living at the College Courtyard you can actually get up five minutes before class and still make it on time. No worries about catching a shuttle or trying to find a parking space when you live at the College Courtyard. This is just one more reason this is a great place to live.

As the final days of the spring semester wind down I want to wish all of you the best of luck on your final exams and papers. I know that most of you have worked very hard this semester and you should be proud of your accomplishments. As we head into the summer, please remember that many students are taking classes and that we need to ensure that we have a good study atmosphere. Keep noise to a minimum and be mindful of you neighbors. Many of our students work during the summer as well and need to get a good night of sleep. Your cooperation will be appreciated by all.
