The safety of our residents is of the highest priority. The College Courtyard Apartments are under 24-hour video surveillance and all entrances are gated. You can do your part to make sure the College Courtyard Apartments are a secure and safe place to live. Never give your key or garage transmitter to others. Please report any damage or repairs that may be necessary to maintain safe conditions. That would include lights out in the common areas, parking garage, stairwells, front entrance and laundry rooms. We also ask that whenever possible you walk in groups and never alone at night. The escort service number is 784-6808.

Watch Your Step

As winter arrives, we must be ready for inclement weather and especially snowstorms. Please be careful and watch your step if a snowstorm should occur. We shovel snow and sand the sidewalks and steps after every storm but you should be cautious never the less. The sidewalk on the north side of the building gets little sun in the winter and the steep hill can be treacherous. Please be careful.

Laundry Rooms

Please be considerate of your neighbors and do not leave your clothes in the washers or dryers unattended after the washing and drying cycle.

Minimum Temp

Per your lease, the minimum temperature in your apartment is 60 degrees. This ensures that the pipes do not freeze in extreme cold weather. You will be liable for damage if this temperature minimum is not maintained.

Interesting Fact: A group of penguins in the water is called a “raft," and that a group of penguins on land is called a “waddle.”

Security is Important

Security at the College Courtyard Apartments is a priority. All of our entrances are under 24-hour video surveillance. Recently we installed additional gates and barriers to make the complex even more secure. At night the College Courtyard Apartments are very well lit and there are no dark corners. We encourage our residents to monitor carefully who is buzzed into the courtyard.

Need More Storage Space?

The College Courtyard has storage lockers available for rent for only $30 per month. The 4’ by 5’ lockers are located on the second and third floors. These storage lockers are a great place to store skis, bicycles, or camping equipment. See Phyllis for more information.

Interesting fact: When the first consistent phone service was established in 1878, Alexander Graham Bell suggested answering the phone with “ahoy."

No Hover Boards

Until a safe hover board is manufactured, they are banned from the College Courtyard Apartments. These devices have proved to be dangerous——especially when being charged.

Interesting Fact: Pet owners usually have better self-esteem, are more in shape, and are less lonely than those who do not own pets.

Vacuum

A vacuum is available for your use. If you wish to borrow our vacuum it can be checked out at the office. Please return the vacuum immediately after use, as other students may need to use it.

Please Don’t Drink and Drive

For your safety and the safety of others, please don’t drink and drive. Your futures are too bright to be wasted by a DUI or worse. Get a designated driver, walk or call a taxi but please do not get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence.

Loading Zone

Please be aware that the parking enforcement officers for the City of Reno will ticket cars that are parked in our loading zone for long periods of time. This ticketing will be done regardless of whether or not the car has a Seminary Avenue parking permit. This strict parking enforcement is being done at the request of the Postal Carriers, as they do not like restricted access to the building. All residents of the College Courtyard Apartments should appreciate this enforcement as it allows a convenient loading and unloading area for you, family and friends.

Interesting Fact: An average cumulus (white, puffy) cloud can weigh more than a million pounds.
